Celebration of Textile Month

In September 2016, the Milliners Guild collaborated with the Fire Museum and created couture pieces handcrafted by members in various materials, each an individual homage to the bravery and passion of firemen throughout history. The pieces were on display during September considered Textile Month in New York City. The installation was on display for two weeks, amid the Turn-of-the-Century helmets and archival fire apparatus that sparked the idea for this “collection”.

The New York City Fire Museum is proud to be a part of an artistic city-wide effort to showcase unique approaches to the unusual and innovative ways to incorporate textiles in design and history. The Milliners Guild is a non-profit organization connecting milliners and hat lovers. They uphold the art of handmade millinery in today's market of mass production.
