How do I get to the Museum? The Museum has an extremely popular "junior firefighter" party package ideally suited for children between the ages of four thru six. The cost for the basic package, which includes the birthday child and 15 guests, is $650. A one-year family membership is also included. For more detailed information on our birthday party packages, please click on "Firefighter Birthday Parties." The Museum has a wonderful gift shop on premises which sells a wide variety of authentic FDNY merchandise including clothing, patches, pins, toys and lots more. The store also has a unique selection of collectibles which can only be found at the Museum. If you cannot visit our on-site store, please shop at our online store. Simply click "Gift Shop" and start shopping. Through the Fire Safety Education Unit of FDNY, the Museum conducts an outstanding fire safety education program. The program, which takes approximately one hour and 15 minutes, includes an age appropriate video presentation, interactive instruction in our fire safety apartment including a practice escape through a simulated fire environment and a historic tour given by a retired NYC firefighter. The cost is $3 per child and $5 per adult; for every ten children, one adult is admitted free. You do need an appointment and can make one by calling the Housewatch desk at the Museum on x14. Do you lend or lease your collection? We do not lend or lease any of the collection to the general public. We do, on occasion, lend objects to other Museums or organizations for limited exhibition. Such loans require the approval of the Museum's Board of Trustees. The Museum is open Tuesday through Saturday from 10:00AM to 5:00PM and on Sunday from 10:00AM to 4:00PM. We are closed Monday and major holidays. How many artifacts/pieces do you have on display? The Museum has the largest collection of fire-related artifacts and artwork in the country. While we do not have an exact count of the number of objects currently on display, they are numerous enough to fill two floors of a one-hundred year old firehouse and span the history of firefighting from colonial time to present day. Is the Museum wheelchair accessible? Yes. |
